    Not sure if this is the right kind of request for this section.. but hey let's give it a shot.

    I am requesting a custom made icon I can use in my patches/keygens. Currently I am using a key icon.. I'd like something a bit more original and I'd like it to be clean.

    [IMG]
    File format should be .ico.

    Generally Keygens have the icon of the software they are made for so if you go for that you would just have to rip the icon of the main executble using Resource Hacker. Patches generally have a default icon or as well the application's icon.

    Something you could do is take the application's icon with Resource Hacker and get a PNG of every size it contains.
    Then add a little unlocked padlock icon / little badge on the bottom-right and recompile the icon using e.g. IcoFX.

    Then you could use that icon for the Keygen.

    You can also theme your Keygen according to the application's look and feel, for e.g. the Help & Manual Keygen if you have seen it.
    It plays on the original Help & Manual logo and uses the Help & Manual logo as well which makes it look very good.

    I think it's a bad idea to use different icons apart from the application's for Keygens as it should be easy to look for;

    If you look for a Keygen in your Downloads folder for which you don't remember the filename, you would filter for *.exe and look for the application's icon or Key, Padlock or Scene group icons.

    It's not actually possible to come up with a totally different idea than the general idea of Keys, Padlocks and Bandaids (as in medicine).
    You have to easily convey to the user the meaning and purpose of your software / Keygen, as the way is in iconography.

    I know it's disappointing to be told that there's not much room for custom styles of icons but there's not much to do about it.
    It's not wrong to use a Key, Padlock or Bandaid icon on the Keygens.

    I would prefer using the app's icon and maybe a little badge on it.
